Itinerary

Your journey begins with a drive to Syabrubesi, which will take about seven to eight hours. The highway heads north across beautiful views of roaring rivers, terraced fields, small villages, and snowcapped mountains. If the sky is clear, the drive will indeed be pleasant. As the road follows the Trishuli river, you will catch glimpses of Ganesh Himal and never-ending green hills. The path takes you to a busy town called Dhunche and continuing forward, you will arrive at Syabrubesi, a town with several places to explore and a riverside hot spring to enjoy a bath.

We will kick off the first day of trekking after early morning breakfast. Trekking on steep trail ascents, we will reach Ronga Bhanjyang in about three hours. On the route, you will stop by viewpoints that provide fantastic views of Ganesh Himal, the Gosaikunda range, and the Goljang valley. Then the trail descends to Goljung Valley, taking about an hour. You will stop at Goljung Valley for lunch, followed by a short break. Then, you will trek for three more hours to reach Gatlang - the beautiful, traditional Tamang village. You can visit the Parbati Kund and an ancient monastery at Gatlang.

You will start your trek gently, passing many Chortens, mani walls, and the deep forests until you reach Chilime, which takes about two and a half hours. Then you will cross a suspension bridge and climb past the terrace fields to reach Gonggang Village, which takes about one and half hours. You will have lunch at Gonggang, and after lunch, you will follow a gently ascending path to reach Tatopani in about 2 hours. On the way, you will hike past a hot spring. If you wish, you can take a natural bath in the hot springs. People believe a bath in these natural hot springs cures all the pains and body aches.

Early morning, after breakfast, you will continue trekking through the forests and dense jungles, slowly gaining elevation while passing several ups and downs. After hiking for about two hours, you will reach Brimdang. The path then takes you to Nagthali Danda in two additional hours. You will be having lunch at Nagthali, enjoying the views of Langtang Lirung (7,227m), Shishapangma (8,013m), Ganesh Himal (7,422m), Tibetan Himal, and other snowy peaks. There are small monasteries for us to visit. You will then continue down to Thuman, a Tibetan-style Tamang village.

The destination for today lies across the valley on the other side of the Bhote Koshi River. The trail begins with a flatter section and then descends to Timure on the way along the old trade route to Tibet, and we stop at Timure for lunch. Rasuwaghadi, an ancient fort at the Nepal-Tibet border, is just a 3-hour walk from Timure. After lunch, the trail takes a steep ascent to Briddim, another Tibetan-influenced Tamang village, where we stay in a local home for a traditionally unique experience.

From Briddim, you will trek to Lama Hotel, which should take about six hours. You will walk across the Bhote Koshi valley, passing several fertile jungles full of bamboo and birch groves, terraced fields, and rural settlements. From the path, you might have the chance to spot rare local wildlife like the red pandas. The trail ascends gently to Rimche (2,400m) through Bamboo Village, which lies on the banks of the Langtang river. As you continue, you will eventually reach Lama Hotel, where we will stay for the night.

Your day starts with an early morning breakfast. After breakfast, you will trek along the river valley through a lush landscape, slowly ascending while enjoying the views of snowy peaks. The river valley suddenly becomes broad at Ghoda Tabela (3,030m). Goda Tabela means a horse stable in English. In the past, there was a Tibetan resettlement project running in this region, but now there is an army check post, and we'll be registering our permits at Ghoda Tabela. However, we will continue trekking further past Chymki Village (3,230m) on a trail adorned with prayer flags. From the trails, you will see prayer wheels, mani walls, water mills, and chortens, and these monuments indicate that Langtang, a large Tamang village is nearby.

After a good cup of tea and breakfast, you will start on the trails. Today's trek will be short, easy, and exciting because of the small plateaus, big mani walls, yak pastures, small villages, and meadows. Since your path will be ascending, you will trek slowly to provide your body enough time for acclimatization. Soon after, you will come across water mills, prayer wheels, and sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions on them. It indicates that we have arrived at the ancient monastery of the Kyanjin Gompa. Kyanjin Gompa is a wonderful village in the Langtang region and sits surrounded by the stunning Himalayas.

Today you will be acclimatizing while exploring this beautiful village. This area of the valley has so much to offer for trekkers. Because of the higher elevation, you will get stunning views of the Himalayan ranges and glaciers. Kyangjin Gompa provides various venues worth seeing. You will be visiting the Kyanjin Gompa monastery itself, where you can observe monks offering prayers. The local cheese factory would also be another exciting place to visit. Besides these, you can also take optional hikes to Langshisa Kharka and the Tserko Ri (5,450m) viewpoint. Tserko Ri will be the highest point of this trek and from this viewpoint. you can observe peaks like Langtang Lirung (7,227m), Langtang II (6,586m) and many more. As the sun starts to set, you will return to Kyanjin Gompa to spend the night.

From Kyangjin Gompa, we admire the last glimpses of the beautiful mountains, standing tall and proud, and then head out of the valley. We retrace the route we used to get here, reaching Langtang Village, and stop at Ghoda Tabela for lunch, where the army check post will register our exit. After the leisurely lunch, we continue down through the dense forests of the river valley to Lama Hotel.

Today will be the final trekking day as we head to Syabrubensi. From Sybrubensi, we will drive back to Kathmandu. You will walk along the Langtang river, heading downwards. While descending through bamboo and birch forests, you will get stunning landscape views. After crossing the Langtang and the Bhote Koshi rivers, you will arrive at Syabrubensi - the town from where we started the trek. You will be driving to Kathmandu the following morning.

After a hearty breakfast, we will drive from Syabrubensi to Kathmandu, which will take about seven to nine hours. During this drive, you can enjoy scenic views of the Trishuli River Valley. As the bus heads southwards, you will see the terraced farmlands, meadows, and final glimpses of the snow-capped mountains. Once you arrive at Kathmandu, your trek ends.
